North Americans can easily take for granted the easy access to medication and the medical care that we enjoy. Medical professionals—physicians, dentists, eye doctors, chiropractors, nurses, physician assistants and other trained medical personnel—join with others from their church or community to travel to Honduras in dedicated teams, providing desperately needed services for those in the poorest areas of the capital city and surrounding countryside. | NEIGHBORHOOD MEDICAL-EVANGELISM TEAMS
Along with our regular Medical Evangelism brigades, WGO also hosts and manages small team (6-10 persons) medical and evangelism brigades in neighborhoods of Tegucigalpa. These small teams, which can also be a small group from an established large medical team, will do community health care in houses and the local government clinics, orphanages and some public hospitals. | MEDICAL UNIVERSITY AND PROFESSIONAL TEAMS
WGO will host and lead university degree classes who wish to study certain health care system aspects in Honduras. Groups of 10 or less, accompanied by a professor, will perform house visits with community health care workers, government and private orphanages, and public hospitals. Groups will also have the opportunity of visiting not-for-profit mission organizations that support public health care in Honduras. The level of medical care given to the Honduran people will depend on the level of education and training held by the participant.
