North Americans can easily take for granted the medical care and medication that we enjoy.
Medical professionals—physicians, dentists, eye doctors, chiropractors, nurses, physician assistants and other trained medical personnel—join with others from their church or community to travel to Honduras in dedicated teams to provide desperately needed services for those in outlying areas. They gather much needed medications and supplies in advance of their trips and work with WGO personnel to distribute them.
Medical teams make meaningful, life-changing connections as they partner with Honduran churches to serve in the poorest areas of Tegucigalpa. They provide vital, life-giving health care--medical, dental and optical—to more than 2,000 Hondurans during the week. After medical care is given, those who have been helped have time to speak with team members who share the Gospel to each one providing an opportunity to enter into new life in Jesus Christ. In addition to meeting dire physical needs of the Hondurans they treat, team members also have the opportunity to share the Gospel with every patient.
