Leadership

WGO exists to do three things well.
1.  To serve and reach the poor for Christ.
2.  To provide care for displaced or abandonded children.
3.  To provide opportunities for the North American Church to  experience the joy that comes through serving.   Click on the button below to see how you can help.

President and CEO

   Mike Ferguson
   President and CEO

Mike was born in Little Rock, AR and he and his wife, Lyn, live in Tegucigalpa, Honduras serving the Lord with WGO.  He graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 1977 with a BS in engineering.  He was a partner in a construction company prior to going into ministry and served for 11 years before that in executive management roles for a major regional energy company.

His daughter’s interest in missions at an early age prompted him to get involved with the mission’s efforts of his home church, Fellowship Bible Church of Little Rock.  Initially thinking he was preparing to release his daughter, Kelly, into the mission field he soon discovered God had a different plan.  God's call was actually not for Kelly but for him and Lyn to join WGO and the leadership team which they did in December of 1999.  Mike has served as WGO President and on the board since 2002 and was named CEO in 2005.

Mike and Lyn have two children, a daughter Kelly and a son Nicholas.  Kelly is married to Chris Hotz and is mother to their three grandchildren, Catherine, Samuel, and Mary.  Mike enjoys playing piano, golf and water sports.

Chief Financial Officer
Steve Razor
Chief Financial Officer

Steve Razor was born in New Castle, IN and graduated from Huntington College in 1978. Steve worked in Customer Service and Finance at Continental Airlines for many years. In October 1993, he heard Allen Danforth, World Gospel Outreach Founder, speak at Steve’s church in Houston, TX. This meeting led to Steve’s eventual involvement with WGO.

Steve found that he’d been uniquely prepared to serve the ministry as he stepped into the role of Chief Financial Officer. He is responsible for the accounting and financial matters as well as overseeing the travel coordinators who make the airline arrangements for the short term mission teams that come to Honduras.

When he is not working, Steve loves to run, play softball or read. He has been married to Lynne for more than 30 years and together the couple has three adult children—Bryce, Katie and Clint, who is married to Amy.

Mission House Director
Pete Raineri
Mission House Director

Pete Raineri was born and raised in the Chicago suburb of Bedford Park, IL and received his BA from Lewis University (Romeoville, IL) in Criminal/Social Justice in 1991.

He served his community as a police officer for 27 years, retiring in 2008. Pete went to Honduras for the first time in 2005, working on a construction team at Rancho Ebenezer and returning every year until the project was complete.

Pete now serves as the Director of the Mission House—the  administrative center for WGO and the place that welcomes and houses volunteer teams and brigades when they come to serve. As director, he is also responsible for recruiting staff and overseeing the general human resources needs of WGO on the ground in Honduras.

When Pete isn’t busy working, he loves being with his wife, Angie, and his children, Nick, Lily, Stephen, Robert and Pete. He also loves to read and go to the beach.

Director Of Children Services
Eric Schultz
Director of Children Services

Father of five and husband of one, Eric Schultz is from Phoenix, AZ where he spent his early years. Staying close to home for his college education, he graduated from Grand Canyon University in 1987 with a B.A. in Bible. Following GCU, Eric worked at a residential treatment center for teens but soon felt a call to law enforcement. He served as a police officer for ten years while developing the youth ministry of a dynamic church plant. He eventually became an associate pastor of that congregation and served there for eight more years.

It was during that season of their ministry that Kymm and Eric began investigating opportunities to serve young people in international settings. With the approval of the leaders of their church, they looked into several opportunities and eventually were put in contact with World Gospel Outreach.

Eric currently serves as Director of Children Services for WGO and is responsible for developing and operating the ministry to children at Rancho Ebenezer, including the K-12 bilingual school, Ebenezer Academy and the Bridge House Transition Program.  Rancho Ebenezer provides permanent foster care and whole-life development for displaced children whose parents are either deceased, unable to care for them or have lost their parental rights. The Bridge House is a comprehensive transition program that serves those who have graduated from high school, providing them with a safe, supervised environment that offers support and training during the launch into the next stage of education, either at university or in an alternative setting.

An avid musician, Eric enjoys being outdoors and is happy when he is involved in any kind of sports activity. He is a lifelong learner who loves to read. He and Kymm have five children, Abby, Audrey, Emily, Nathaniel and Jack.

Manager Of Brigade Operations
Jon Hovestol
Manager of Brigade Operations

Jon was born and raised in southern Wisconsin. Ever since he could remember, Jon wanted to be a Carpenter. At the age of 16 he started his own business, working at the Federal Building in downtown Chicago, IL.  Through the years he became well versed in woodworking, welding, electric and almost every trade in the construction field, eventually specializing in trim carpentry. For the past 10 years, Jon became more involved in General Contracting in the Lake Geneva, WI area.

As a young teen, Jon committed himself to becoming a missionary. At the age of 21, Jon left his business for a time to attend Oak Hills Bible Institute. Yet another step in God’s preparation for what the future held. While there, Jon met Helen, who he married in 1979. Jon was introduced to WGO in 2002, and shortly after began leading teams to Tegucigalpa. His passion is Evangelism, and changing the country of Honduras for Christ. He also has a passion for changing the lives of the North American team members who come to serve for a week in Honduras. He has felt God’s specific call on his life in the area of the Medical/Evangelistic brigades.

Jon and Helen have four children, Dan, Heather, and twins Megan and Courtney—Daughter in law Kristin, and son in laws Brandon and Anthony. At the present time, Jon and Helen have one grandson, Haaken, with two more on the way!

Director of Donor Relations
Fred Steinbach
Director of Donor Relations
Illinois office

A native of Chicago’s western suburbs, Fred Steinbach received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign. He worked in his family-owned TV and Video sales and service business while remaining highly involved in his local church, Peace Lutheran of Lombard, IL, a congregation with a strong relationship with World Gospel Outreach.

Following the devastation of Hurricane Mitch in October 1998, Fred helped organize Peace Lutheran’s effort to fill a shipping container with relief supplies to be sent to Honduras for use by World Gospel Outreach. In 2000 he traveled to Honduras with the team from his church, an experience that changed his life forever. As God spoke to him, Fred realized He was calling him out of his secular vocation and into full-time vocational mission work. Fred obediently closed the family business and went to work with Joni and Friends and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In 2005, he volunteered to help with the WGO Capital Campaign and soon received an invitation to join WGO’s staff full-time.

As Director of Donor Relations Fred invites individuals and churches to get involved with what God is doing through World Gospel Outreach. His responsibilities include inviting churches to bring teams to serve, mentoring new team leaders and seeking resources to fund WGO.

Fred feels blessed to have a spouse, Mary, who loves WGO also.  Together they have three adult daughters, Sarah, Nancy and Susan who have all been to Honduras at least once. Fred and Mary enjoy golfing, attending sporting events together and playing with their grandson, Austin.
