Medical-Evangelism Brigades
|
WGO exists to do three things well.
1. To serve and reach the poor for Christ.
2. To provide care for displaced or abandonded children.
3. To provide opportunities for the North American Church to experience the joy that comes through serving. Click on the button below to see how you can help.

Medical-Evangelism Brigades | |
Medical, pharmacy, dental, optical, children and evangelism ministries make up the usual components of a medical brigade. Team members are given the opportunity to spend time working in all ministries throughout their trip. Medical backgrounds are not necessary. We have qualified medical staff at each brigade site. You will be utilized where your training and gifts help the most.

Typical Brigade Sites | |
At our brigade sites people often wait for hours to receive help for their physical needs. Many begin lining up before sunrise. Others must walk long distances to reach the site. As many as time and supplies allow are treated in the medical, dental, and optical areas. They then recieve the greatest service that anyone can provide and that is to hear the Gospel and learn about the saving grace that a relationship with Jesus Christ provides. The sites are chosen through a local church that can be the spiritual support for the people after WGO completes the brigade. |

Brigade Children's Ministries |
Medical-Evangelism brigades include children's ministries at each site. Hair washing/lice control is a favorite among the team members and the Honduran children. Children's bible evangelism sessions are also provided so the kids hear for themselves the truth about Jesus Christ. |
Dental |

WGO's Medical-Evangelism brigades provide dental care to the poor of Honduras. In our early brigades we utilized recently graduated dentists and dental students to provide dental care. Currently we still use Honduran dentists but we have also been blessed with many North American dental professionals who work along side their Honduran colleagues providing training and dental care to people who would have otherwise gone without. As seen in the pictures above, with the help of their many contributions of time and equipment, our dental service at the brigades has moved from extraction to full restoration. We also have provided personal dental hygiene education along with hundreds of thousands of toothbrushes given away since the program was begun.
If you would like to become involved in providing such needed care or supporting WGO's dental service please contact our Team Personnel Manager

Optical | |
Eyeglasses are a huge need of the poor in Honduras. Since 1992 , New Vision Ministries, a group of these volunteer Optometrists and Ophthalmolgists, have been traveling with the WGO brigades to bring this much needed service to the people of Honduras. New Vision Ministries has provided equipment with WGO that allows screening examination of eye health and vision needs. The most prevalent need is reading glasses for the elderly and glasses for the school children. Even if we give the people a Bible, it is pretty much useless if they cannot see it. Regretfully there are some teams that do not have an optometrist or ophthalmolgist available.
