We Serve the Poor
|
WGO exists to do three things well.
1. To serve and reach the poor for Christ.
2. To provide care for displaced or abandonded children.
3. To provide opportunities for the North American Church to experience the joy that comes through serving. Click on the button below to see how you can help.

Serving The Poor of Honduras |
Honduras is among the poorest nations of the world. It is a nation of neglected and abandoned children and adults in dire need of help. Many families are locked into a devastating cycle of disease, unemployment and illiteracy. World Gospel Outreach is helping defeat poverty in Honduras while bringing the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. |
With Physical Care | | Every year, more than 50,000 Hondurans have their medical and dental needs met by medical and non-medical volunteers who make up the Medical-Evangelism brigades of World Gospel Outreach. Lives are changed and communities are transformed as WGO Brigades partner with more than 80 local Honduran churches to serve those in need, bringing medical care to some who have never had it.
The need and resulting impact are so great that some have been known to travel many miles, standing in long lines, to take advantage of the valuable medical care and support provided Medical-Evangelism and their supporting team members. |
For Homes |
Many Hondurans live in homes with dirt floors. Through WGO’s cement floor ministry, families are selected and teams travel to build concrete floors for those living in dirt. The impact of this is life-changing for the families who benefit and is one more step in breaking the cycle of poverty and disease in Honduras. |
For Hearts | | WGO also provides loving homes for orphaned, abandoned and displaced children through their children’s ministry at Rancho Ebenezer. WGO families provide every practical daily need to children throughout their entire childhood and adolescence. While developing physically, socially and spiritually children receive a quality education at Ebenezer Academy, WGO’s K-12 bilingual school is designed especially for the needs of our unique population. After Graduation, young adults have the option of continuing with WGO in the Bridge House transition program to receive a university scholarship while learning valuable like skills and gaining employment experience. |
With Spiritual Care |
Each of the areas above works powerfully to show the love and kindness of God to the people of Honduras. These ministries also create ideal opportunities for members of World Gospel Outreach teams to share the Good News of the Gospel with those who are helped. Team members share their faith in a simple and straightforward way, working with a WGO translator. The response is powerful; each year over 2,000 respond to the opportunity to know Christ.
Children at Rancho Ebenezer are taught about the love God has for them; they are trained in the Scriptures and they are given leadership training and encouragement in every phase of their lives. Living in loving homes with godly parents is the first opportunity many will have to understand the love God has for them, demonstrated through the lives of those who care for them.
Greg Kerr of New Life Community Church, Peoria, AZ traveled to Honduras in the spring of 2009. He and a team from his church built a cement floor in the home of a family living in sub-standard conditions. To read Greg’s moving story of serving the poor of Tegucigalpa Click HERE. |
The Gift Of Hair Washing |
Because of their poverty many Honduran children have head lice. the WGO team members minister to these children by washing their heads with medicated shampoo to help with this condition. As part of this ministry they then comb and style the children's hair. Most homes in these neighborhoods do not have running water. This hair washing is a treat for the children who feel loved by the team member |
