Tony joined WGO as Chief Financial Officer in June 2017. His early professional experience was in the corporate world as a CPA, followed by nearly two decades of serving Christian non-profit organizations in the areas of financial management and integrity, leadership development and compassionate care ministry. It was a conversation with a close friend and CEO that encouraged and affirmed Tony’s call to serve those in need. That conversation went something like, “Tony, it is obvious that God has given you a big heart for compassionate care ministry … God-like compassion and CPAs don’t normally go together… you need to explore that.” Most recently Tony served with an orphan care ministry in Zambia, Africa and now brings his collective ministry experiences to further the purposes of WGO. Tony loves… making a difference; empowering others to lead; international travel; a bold cup of coffee; an unlimited supply of chocolate; Sunday naps; ocean, beach and palm trees. Tony currently resides in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Otniel Zavala, Honduras Field Director

Otniel was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and came to work for WGO in 2015, where he met his wife Rachel Hahn who has been a missionary with WGO since 2009. Otniel and Rachel now have the blessing of their daughter Lydia Isabella. Otniel is the youngest of three siblings born into a Christian family where he was able to see and experience God’s faithfulness in many different ways. He graduated from high school at Academia Los Pinares, a Christian bilingual school, and later got a BS in Industrial Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Honduras. For a little over 16 years he worked as an independent contractor providing simultaneous interpretation services for foreign and local government agencies, NGO’s, and international businesses. He also taught at and helped manage a non-profit Christian bilingual school for 9 years and served on the board of a Christian foundation in Honduras.  Rachel has a BS in Music Ministry from Ozark Christian College and has served as a teacher at WGO’s Ebenezer Academy and in most recent years as Manager of WGO’s Child Sponsorship program. Otniel and Rachel enjoy leading worship at their local church and serving together in ministry to impact the lives of those that are most in need on Honduras.

"Growing up I remember seeing how hard my parents worked to give us better opportunities in life and that etched in me a desire to help others in need. Coming to WGO has been a blessing and an answer to prayer to find an opportunity to use my abilities to impact the lives of others in a meaningful way that glorifies God. I enjoy the outdoors and visiting my family’s coffee plantation. I also enjoy engaging in any type of activities and projects where I can challenge myself to use my mechanical abilities."

Jeffrey Verlander, Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operations Officer, Jeffrey Verlander joined WGO July 1st, 2022 to oversee WGO operations in both Honduras and Belize. Jeffrey’s operational and human resources experience, mission service and church leadership involvement, brings additional strength to the team within WGO. Prior to accepting the position with WGO, Jeffrey spent the majority of his career in various leadership positions with LifeWay Christian Stores. He has also worked as a retail project manager and as an operations officer for a small coffee company. Jeffrey calls Texas home, with his wife Rebecca and three teenage sons. “Our family loves to travel and explore the world together. We also enjoy serving the Lord together as opportunities arise. We have a heart for missions and are excited about the opportunity to serve the Lord alongside the WGO team.”

Mac Youngblood, Director of Partner Relations

Mac and Ashley along with their girls, Amelia and Addison, joined the ministry in July of 2015.  They hail from the town in Columbus, MS where Mac was in insurance sales and Ashley was a florist. They found the calling to join the mission field after two short term trips to Rancho Ebenezer.  With Mac’s business background, he found a great fit as the Director of Human Resources, initially and Ashley found a role as a teacher at a local school near the Mission House. Mac has transitioned into the Director of Program Accounts where he manages our Ambassadors in the US along with the WGO Coffee Club.
